I started my computer but it hung at the splash screen for 2 hours then continued to load. I removed the cmos battery for 20 seconds then i booted the computer and it loaded immediatly. I then turned off my computer and on reboot it stopped responding again for hours. Can anyone tell me what is wrong. I replace the battery but it still hangs for hours before loading. I dont want to keep taking the battery out everytime i want to use the computer.

This is what I do when I get these kinds of computer stupidities.

unplug the power,
remove battery,
reset the CMOS using the jumper (usually around the battery, you move it to position 2-3, wait 2 seconds, and then move it back to 1-2),
plug in power,
insert battery,
start computer

enter BIOS setup,
set the clock,
load optimized defaults
go to PCI PNP configuration, change Reset Configuration Data to Enabled.
Save and exit

Hope this helps.

What's your motherboard and Bios version it uses?
Splash Screen = full screen Logo or something from Windows?
-> If full screen Logo then disable in Bios.

Did Your problem came out of nowhere or was your hardware changed somehow like an additional USB hub or something else?
Do you have some unknown hardware in device manager?
