BOARD: PC CHIPSM598 (PCB version 5.0)
BIOS: AMI
Bios ID: 52-0323-001437-00101111-071595-000000-001_01_M598LMR-H
Bios Date: 03/23/2000S
Chipset: SIS530
Current ami bios LOCKS UP if setup to "AUTO" mode, or if I try to enter "14596 cyl" manually.
It's a super-socket 7 system with an AMD K6-II 400 Mhz cpu, two pci slots, and one ISA.
It has onboard LAN/Sound (SoundPro)/Video/Modem. But of all these features I only need the onboard SIS530 VGA, all others are currently disabled via jumpers.
So I wouldn't mind losing the "on board features" for a bios that allows my system to WORK with the Samsung 120gb SV1204H.
The parameters I'm trying to enter on the bios are:
14596 cyl 255 heads, 63 sect.
If I select "auto detect", the bios hangs. If I manually try to enter the LBA data, as soon as I enter "14596 cyl" I get a hard lockup (not even cursor moves).
Is it possible to patch this bios to allow large-ide compatibility?
Would upgrading to MRBios be even possible on this "highly customized" motherboard?

The Cyl Head Sector size you tried to enter - are these the values written onto the HDD ?
