I have an ABIT BX6R2 mobo with an Award Modulator BIOS v4.51PG, and I'm trying to get a 120GB HDD mounted to it.

I've taken a look on the extensive list of "32GB and 64GB bug patched"-BIOSes at http://wims.rainbow-software.org, but unfortunately there is no entry yet for my mobo. I would very much appreciate it if somebody could prepare a bug patch for the most recent BIOS update from ABIT for me.
I think the most recent BIOS version from ABIT for this mobo is BXR_QR.BIN; if necessary I can send this file.

Thanx in advance.

Well, when I connect the 120GB HDD, my BIOS can't detect it;
when I read about the Award bug, I thought this might be the cause.

I connected the HDD to a cable onto which also another device is present. I have tried all possible jumper settings: master, slave, cs, but the BIOS cannot detect it.
I will try to connect it without any other device connected to the same cable. But francly I don't have any idea what could be wrong then.

The other utility we often use also mentions:

Some HDD detect-problem : not found.

So the BIOS you have is 100% ok.

Thanks for the feedback.

Because I read about these 32GB and 64GB bugs, I was a little too much focussed on that.
I've solved the problem, which is a very trivial one :oops: ,
I had put my HDD in a removable bracket, and somehow the contacting was not good enough.

I'm formatting the HDD right now, so this story has a happy ending.

Ciao!

Sometimes when you put HDDs into a bracket or removable drive caddy, you need to push the caddy in reasonably hard so that it makes proper contact. Often when it does not make proper contact you find that the caddy, with a little extra pressure, will go in further than what you thought it did.
