I have a Pentium II on a Dataexpert MBX8440 motherboard.
It supports up to 8.4 Gbs HD only.
Is there a BIOS upgrade that supports bigger disks ? Where can I get it ?
In the manufacturer web it is only available a BIOS ver 1.3 dated 9/25/98, and it seems as old as the one in my computer.
No more information is available at the manufacturer web.
Information about the BIOS I have:
BIOS ID : 2A69KD0AC
BIOS DATE : 09/22/1998
BIOS Signon : 09/22/1998-1440BX-W977TF-2A69KD0AC-00
BIOS Type : Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
rev.1.3
Chpiset : Intel 440BX/ZX chipset (Pentium II/III based chipset)
Motherboard: Dataexpert MBX8440

Thanks in advance for any support.

You have the latest BIOS. It should support up to HDDs 32GB.
If you want support for HDDs over 32GB, I can send you a modified BIOS - if you want to try it, it's at your own risk.

I sent you the BIOS, but I got "exceeded storage allocation" error.
I uploaded it here http://www.wimsbios.com/~rainbow/BIOS%2 ... x8440c.zip

It does work. I've just flashed the "fixed" BIOS for the MBX8440 (rev.1.1) and it correctly detected and supported a 40GB Seagate HDD.
It would just hang at autodetect before the flash.

Yes it is... here: http://wims.rainbow-software.org/index. ... 0&count=40

And yes, in theory a 120GB HDD is supported.
