Hallo all,

i'm looking for a bios upgrade for a mainbord where i cannot find a name on it.
The bios on the bord right now is:

10/27/1998-SiS-5600-2A6ILV3EC-00

I can't find a newer update.
Aswell there sould be on made in 1999.
This to use larger HDD's than 20Gb.

A did found a file am619.zip but this one is not solving the problem.

Someone?

You should find a small code like 35-xxxx-xx printed on the motherboard. Then go to the PCPARTNER support site to identify it.

But still the HDD's of 40 Gb i'd like to use are not accepted.
These hdd's are well function causse i tryed them 2 minutes ago on an other board.
The flash at the other hand is wel done, becausse the rapport is ok.

It's OK, I have downloaded the zip file and checked both Goldstar and SMC versions.
02/10/1999-SiS-5600-2A6ILV3CC-00
BIOS-S-2M (90301)
is for SMC.

02/10/1999-SiS-5600-2A6ILV3EC-00
BIOS-G-2M (90301)
is for Goldstar.

So your motherboard has a Goldstar brand Super I/O chip. I will check out that BIOS and see if we can patch it.
[edit] Do you have a message like "BIOS-G-2M (whatever)" at top left of memory count screen ?

Little sadness is in the home of my family.
The bios is acepting the 40Gb HDD, but aswell there is an XP home edition OP on it, the pc is always asking what to do.
Startin normaly, safe start, safe and network posib's, and also the last working way.

During the operation of flashing was no interuption, or fault message on the screen.
So as i can see the name of wim's bios team on the startup screen, i guess als is wel done an cooked in to the eprom.

Any sugestion?
Of question that can make you say:" s**t there we have to do that or that, to make it work"?

Me again,

I tryed next.
A smaller hdd, as master at the first ide, having windows installed is working ok, and, a 40 Gb hdd containing all kind of files (no OS) is vissible and the files are ok the be opened.
The hdd 40 GB that is working properly is A Maxtor D740X-L6.
It is dooing all.
Master ide 1
Slave ide 1
Master ide 2 (even no slave at ide 1 present)
Slave ide 2 (even no slave at ide 1 present) (even no master ide 2 present)(even no slave at ide 1 or master at ide 2 present)

The other 40Gb hdd is a WD 400 and is recognised in de hdd search in the bios but not accesable when pc is running.
Not as slave ide 1
not as master or slave at ide 2
and when used as master at ide 1 (causse is containing a os (win xp home) there is a disk fail anonced.
PS, all of these disks are workin ok in another system.
Herebye ai men that the HDD's are ok.

Hope i don't that tomutch of your time, and hope to that true my questions other people can be helped.

1. Can you re-partition, re-format and install an OS from new on a 40GB drive ? We often hear of OS problems when a drive is moved from one machine to another.
2. On the configuration summary page, what UDMA mode is shown for the drive which is having problems ? Sometimes the BIOS tries to use a mode which the drive can use but the motherboard cannot.

This i will try as soon as i can copy my files to another dd

LBA,UDMA 2,40029MB

This HDD was running the OS in an other PC (asus MB) without any troubles.
It is also readable when put as slave on ide 2 or master or slave at ide 2 (if a master is at de master at ide 1 offcourse).

That should be fine; UDMA mode 2 is UDMA-33

This makes me think that there could be something in the master boot record causing confusion, which is a good reason to try the "repartition, reformat and reinstall" route.

I'm trying to find some space to store the data, as soon as i found it i will make the hdd empty and gif it a try to rerun the needet things to format it.
Than i'l reinstall it and hope that all will work.
Let you know someting, so that you are shure of the good working of the flash.
