Hi all,

i have a little problem i'm not able to find bios update for my fastfame mobo.

can u help me please?

here you are the strings got by eSupport BIOS agent Version 3.61:

BIOS ID: 10/15/2001-694T-686B-6A6LJFGDC
OEM Sign-On: Release date:2001/10/15 Ver:1.10
BIOS Date: 10/15/01
BIOS Type: Award
Chipset: VIA 82C691 rev 196
Super I/O: VIA 686 rev 64 found at port 7h
OS: Slackware 11
BIOS ROM Socket: Yes
BIOS ROM Size: 256K
Memory Installed: 1536 MB
Memory Max: 1536 MB
CPU: Intel Celeron(TM) 1100 Mhz MAX: 1500 Mhz

To run this program i installed win xp sp2 but i have little problem to install lilo in mbr with slackware, so i tought there was a little incompatibility between my mobo and harddisk seen as 136 Gb in LBA instead of 250 Gb

I Thank u so much for support and wish u a good day :D

any hdd size bigger than 136GB (128GB actually) needs LBA48. the bios apparently doesn't support LBA48. there are no patches that provide support for that. you should rather use grub than lilo. there shouldn't be any problems using grub. to make sure that everything works fine you also could make a 5mb partition holding the kernel (/boot) and boot off that partition. if the kernel is loaded the bios is (mostly) useless anyways (be thankful for that :)).

i'd say that there's nothing to patch here..

i had a 250GB WD installed in a i810 board today. the bios detects it as 136GB. so far nothing new. make sure you set geometry to LBA and let the bios detect the hdd again. i ended up with an error 18 booting the hdd with grub when the geometry was set to AUTO. after i selected LBA and hit the 'detect' button again, everything went fine after the installation of grub.
