i do not know much technical details on this but here's my problem. i flashed the BIOS to detect up to 30GB and from HP website, they say drives >30GB cannot be detected. i have an external Quantum Fireball AS60GB drive connected to my PC via 1394. And I can only see 30GB now. I also partitioned it with 30GB each using another PC but when I connect it to my HP Brio Bax, it can only detect one volume of 30GB. Anyway I can make use of the full 60GB, with or without partitioning. I am on WIN 98SE. Thanks.

Download the BIOS from HP and follow their instructions. Replace the BIOS on the bootable floppy with the BIOS from http://http://wims.rainbow-software.org before flashing.

Did you re-FDISK it to create a new partition ? Remember you may need to download an update to W98 FDISK from Microsoft if you want a partition bigger than 32 GB.
Can you confirm that the BIOS message has changed to include a message about it being patched ?
