I tried to install a hard disk 40G 7200 RPM on it & the bios did not recognize it

Edwin (evasive) responded to a query on this on motherboards.org on 15 July identifying it as Lucky Star 6VABX2. The BIOS download directory for 6VABX2 at Lucky Star is:
http://www.lucky-star.com.tw/pub/Bios/m ... _1/6vabx2/
There are two files, one for 128 Kb (1 Mbit) flash and one for 256 Kb (2 Mbit) flash. Find out what size your current BIOS is by using the Award flash utility or Uniflash to save it.

Further info: the 2Mbit file is Award 6
The 1Mbit file is Award 4.5x with ID:
08/24/1999-692-596-W977-2A6LGL1AC-00
and message: #LGA3-03.
The 1 Mbit file has the 32 Gb bug, but I have patched it. I am not 100% happy with the identification yet.

Update: that appears to be the only LGA3 BIOS (see http://www.lucky-star.com.tw/english/te ... os/via.htm).

Would you like to try a patched version which should support disks up to 128 Gb, Harariz ?
Remember:
- You flash at your own risk.
- You will need to uninstall any disk overlay software.
- You may need to run your disk manufacturer's utility to restore the reported disk size or to limit the disk transfer rate to UDMA33.

first, thank you very much for your reply

i tried activating the files (6vabx2ea.bin & lga3-3.bin)
from http://www.lucky-star.com.tw/pub/Bios/m ... _1/6vabx2/
with awdflash

only lga3-3.bin worked (the other stuck the computer & i had to restart it)
now there is a new bios dated 08/24/1999

but it did not help...

maybe i am doing somthing wrong when i start the computer
a- i put the HD to master (i disconnected the cd)
b- put to auto & lba
c- when i ask it to find it - it fails

please try to help me

I have just patched this BIOS for Walid to support disks up to 64 Gb. I could email it to you if you wish.

OK, Harariz tried the BIOS and says it works fine EXCEPT:

When the drive is single/master it is autodetected as 40 Gb
When a slave CD is added, the 40Gb HDD is detected as 8Gb !
The BIOS was patched using AWD64GB LGA3-3.BIN -32

Any ideas ?

Award BIOS shows CHS, 8.4GB if the drive is not present - so the jumpers are not properly set or there's incompatibility between the HDD and CD-ROM.

Thanks, Rainbow - I'll pass that on to his end user, as Harariz is now out for 3 weeks.
