Here's the BIOS image on Abit's site:
http://fae.abit.com.tw/download/bios/it5h/old/

The latest BIOS revision is >> it5h9r.exe <<

To the l33t BIOS hacking experts: Is there an online guide for hacking the Award BIOS to support >32GB drives? I've some programming experience and would be happy to help Rainbow & co fix BIOS's 8)

What's your current BIOS ID string?
9R BIOS:
01/21/98-i430HX-2A59FA1DC-9R
GREEN PCI/ISA SYSTEM

There's also CR BIOS:
01/21/98-i430HX-2A59FA1DC-CR
GREEN PCI/ISA SYSTEM

The date is the same but the revision seems to be newer :?

Oddly, mine has a CS BIOS:
01/21/98-i430HX-ALi5123-2A59FA1EC-CS

( yes, the date string is still 1/21/98 ! )

Looking at the "index.txt" file, there's a revision named "it5h5cs.exe", which is probably the one that's on my board. Now that I think about it, I recall that CS was the latest rev released by Abit. Unfortunately, it's not on the Abit FAE support site. I can extract the image and send it to you, if you'd like. Send me your email address or a site to upload to.

Yes, fair enough. I didn't want to assume that I could send big binary attachments to that email account. No good pissing him off by overflowing his mailbox :(
But since you think it's ok, I'll give it a try.

What board revision do you have? Hope that it's printed somewhere on it.

Rev 1.01, same as the topic header. The BIOS image that I sent you was taken straight from the board.

No replies from Rainbow :( Guess he's too busy or can't get it working.

But good news nonetheless! I tried apple_rom's Bios Patcher utility which works great. He was even kind enough to explain the divide-by-zero overflow which causes the problem. Anyway, his cool app automatically patches the 32GB & 64GB HD size bugs and fixes the CPU tables for Celeron/P3 too! Send him a msg if you'd like to try it out, or I can send it your way too.

Thanks, we do know about apple_rom's patcher and some of us have tried it on a couple of things. It hasn't worked on everything I tried but it looks like a useful addition to the toolkit.
