Hi,

I purchased a HDD Maxtor 40 GB D740X . My BIOS recognize a 32 GB HDD.

ASUS Liveupdate give me these informations

ASUS P2B ACPI BIOS revision 1006
Chipset i440BX
Date 10/09/98

If I update my BIOS with this file P2B 1012 (proposed by Liveupdate), the 40 GB of my HDD will be recognize ?

As I'm really new in flashing BIOS, I prefer to use Liveupdate than AFLASH (another Flasher). Is this method secure ????

Thanks,

Bruno

Bonjour Bruno
Don't worry about the English as long as we can understand you....
I loked at the 1012 BIOS with Rainbow's utility; it says
BIOS ID string: 03/03/00-i440BX-<<P2B>>-00
BIOS OEM string: ASUS P2B ACPI BIOS Revision 1012
INT13h Extensions...Present: Asus-style
=> BIOS already supports HDDs over 32GB (Asus-style)!
It may not support disks over 64 Gb, I don't know, but it looks good for 40Gb.

Good luck!

It will work with HDDs up to 128GB. The latest BIOS is 1014 BETA 002 which I'm currently using.
