 I have ABIT LX6. Used to have bios version KN. Tried to update to LY, but did'nt work. However, there is LY on my screen. I fixed my PC to work again, but it still does not recognise my new HD.

:?: How can I get my new 40GB Western Digital working?

Are you sure with KN as bios revision ?
I can't see this number on the downloadpage :
http://fae.abit.com.tw/eng/download/bios/lx6.htm

But I found a BETA-Bios dated 12/99 on Abit mirror site :
ftp://ftp.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/pub ... ndex-e.htm
12/21/1999-i440LX-W977TF-2A69JA1AC-00

What was the problem upgrading to LY ?

Yes, I'm sure of KN-version. At the Abit site, I could not find anything else than LY-version. Not even a history of versions. It surprised me too.

At first, the new version got jammed at startup, later on with some eprom-notification (?). A friend helped me out, so it works again, but not with the new HD.

The Abit-FAE site(their Tech support - click at the Link !) usually has all released versions listet - maybe KN was some sort of Beta or for OEM purpose .
What's the date of the KN Bios ?

One to bookmark, thanks Dennis. Also the marburg mirror. I've patched the LY version if anyone wants it, as it doesn't support disks over 32 Gb.

There is no support in the beta BIOS PZ, so that's now patched as well...
