It sounds like you could do with a newer BIOS. Do you have PCB V1.3, V5.0 or V6.0?
Download the latest BIOS for your board from [url]http::/go.to/ajz[/url]
You may have to reduce the max UDMA mode, using the disk manufacturer's utility, to prevent hanging when you load Windows.
Don't forget your version of FDISK and Windows must support the size of partition you are trying to make - if you are using Windows 98 you may have to download a new version of FDISK from Microsoft.
