I would not unless you had no other choice and were prepared to hot-swap flash the BIOS to recover.oknet wrote:Can I upgrade my BIOS with

Why do you want to install a Bios that was not written for your board ?
It may render your Compouter useless unless you have the possibility to reprogram your Flashrom with an external programmer .
Especially your board has voltage settings in Bios(if I remeber correctly) - the other may not so you may risk to fry your CPU !

Well, Rainbow's utility found something to do:

where could I get this tool ?
I download a BIOS package
then unpackage it , I get a file named : original.tmp.
obviously, I unpackage the BIOS that you mail to me, get file : original.tmp.
I want to know the difference of them.
so I compare them in UltraEdit, I find they are same.

You unpackaged too far and unloaded the lharc compressed "original.tmp" main block module out of the BIOS ROM. There are also changes in the awardext.rom module. Rainbow's utllity looks for a couple of different versions of the routines, in different places. For more information, search posts by BiosMan and Rainbow.oknet wrote:I download a BIOS package

The BIOS which I patched should have a string "P5F85/87 PCI GREEN BIOS patched for 128 Gb HDD" and the one you downloaded should have a string "P5F85/87 PCI GREEN BIOS" when you load the .BIN file into MODBIN.EXE. For more information, search posts by BiosMan and Rainbow.
