I'm having a problem with that pesky hard drive limit. I'm trying to install a new drive (WD800JB-00CRA1) on an old board- here are the specs:
BIOS Date: 10/20/98
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 10/20/1998-i440BX-W977-2A69KM4DC-00
OEM Sign-On: W6131MJ V1.6 051799
Chipset: Intel 440BX/ZX rev 2
Superio: Winbond 977ATF rev 0 found at port 3F0h
CPU Type: Pentium III
CPU Speed: 500 Mhz
CPU Max: 500 Mhz
BIOS ROM In Socket: Yes
BIOS ROM Size: 256K
Memory Installed: 256 MB
Memory Maximum: 512 MB
This is a MSI MS-6131 PCB V1.0 board. I can find all sorts of BIOS updates for PCB V2.X-V3.X, but nothing to help my old V1.0 board. I've looked everywhere and I've even tried the PCB V2.X update (lucked out on that one, almost had a paperweight). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
