Hi, all, i just bought a new CICERO Maxtor 80GB hdd, but my motherboard can't recognize it. It worked when it was limited to 32GB. Here's my BIOS Info:

Program: Unicore BIOS Wizard Version 3.23
Program: eSupport.com BIOS Detect v1.2 July 21, 2003
BIOS Date: 12/28/98
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 12/28/1998-ITE8671-2A69JV3QC-00
OEM Sign-On: BIOS-I-2M (81228)
Chipset: Intel 440EX/LX rev 3
Superio: ITE 8671 rev 1 found at port 279h

I searched http://wims.rainbow-software.org/index.php?count=-1, there is a "BIOS-I (81223) patched for HDD to 128 Gb", but mine is BIOS-I-2M (81228).

I hope someone can help! Thanks in advance!

Happy New Year!

place board with keyboard connector in upper right corner. Check top surface in upper left corner for a 35-xxxx-xx marking and reply with that.

Either the PcPartner LXB843D or EXB841D with the 2Mbit BIOS. You seem to have the latest version already. The version that's already patched is the 1Mbit (128KB) version.

yep, i think i had the version (81228, latest version??), but i think this 2Mbit version is not patched, so my hdd couldnt be recognized at its full capacity. Where i can find this patched-bios?

Thanks. ajzchips.

I tried the patched bios, but win98's fdisk detects a 12G instead a 80G, i know Microsoft's site offers an update to this FDISKproblem, but i wonder whether i will lose all the data i had in the 30G partition?

Thanks a lot for your email. ajzchips.

if making new partitions with fdisk anything that was on the disk will be gone. backup before messing around with fdisk.
