Hello,
I am trying to update an old PIII 450Mhz PC by adding an 80GB Hitatchi Deskstar HD (HDS728080)
I have got the HD to work by setting the jumpers to 32GB limit however I can't get the BIOS to recognise the drive when it is at it's regular 80GB.
The Bios is the Award Modular Bios V4.51PG
Bios ID: 07/16/99 i440BX/ZX-977-2A69KPABC-00
I believe the motherboard is an A-Trend i440BX-W977 but I am not sure of this.
The A-Trend website no longer exists and I am a bit lost here!
If there is more information I can provide please let me know
Thanks in advance,
Matthew

Most of the hits for i440BX/ZX-977-2A69KPABC-00 are for Epox boards.
What is the message that appears under the Award logo on the memory count screen? Possibly something like "440BX/ZX AGPset".
How many slots of each type - is this a Slot 1 motherboard? Are there any markings?

I'm not sure quite what you are askingNickS wrote: How many slots of each type - is this a Slot 1 motherboard? Are there any markings?
Thanks for you help

OK - have you taken the cover off? If not, please do so.
How many PCI slots (white)?
One AGP card slot? (brown, set back from the edge of the board)
Any ISA slots (brown, right up to the edge of the board)?
What sort of memory does it use? How many sockets?
Does the CPU plug into a slot or into a square socket?
Is there any interesting writing on the board such as "EP-6ZXM"
That BIOS date ties in quite nicely with the Epox 6ZXM early BIOS, filename bxc-09716.exe, which I found referenced at http://www.motherboards.org/mobot/bios/Epox/EP-6ZXM/

Yes, 2 slotsNickS wrote: Any ISA slots (brown, right up to the edge of the board)?
I believe it is pc100 memory, I am using the original 64mb stick which was in the machine from the factory plus 2 sticks of 256mb pc133 memory. (3 sockets in total)NickS wrote: What sort of memory does it use? How many sockets?
It looks like it plugs into a slotNickS wrote: Does the CPU plug into a slot or into a square socket?
Right, it says EP-BX3NickS wrote: Is there any interesting writing on the board such as "EP-6ZXM"
Thanks again for your help!

I would go to Epox themselves.

The same BIOS is used for 6ZXM, BX2, BX3, BXAM (2 Mbit BIOS) and ZXA.
Good luck!
