Hello All!

I've spent the last few days reading through all the threads before posting and I'm hoping for some help (charity?)

In trying to do a nice thing, I gave a friend an old PC which he is now trying to upgrade. It is one of those old CompUSA PC's with the BCM mobo (GT440ZX.)

I went to the BCM web site and downloaded the last BIOS update they had available but the BIOS is still not recognizing the new Maxtor 80G drive he wants to install. It sees it but locks up at the configuration page.

Anyone know of a patched BIOS that would help?

The ID string is i440ZX-W977EF-2A69KB3MC-00...

By the way...GREAT site! This will come in handy in the future, I'm sure!

The ID on the latest GT440ZX BIOS at BCM is
11/29/1999-i440BX/ZX-2A69KB3MC-00
with BIOS message: BIOS REV:1.04
Is this the one that you have flashed?
If so, a patched version will be available at the "untested" link in my signature in a short while. Look for (BCM GT440ZX).ZIP Flash at your own risk, but please give us feedback!

You are absolutely awesome! That is indeed the one I flashed. I already grabbed the patched version and will hopefully try it out tonight on his PC. I will certainly let you know how it goes.

Thanks!
