I tried your patched bios 01/11/2001-I440LX-DD-2A69JD4EC-00 (which is for DFI P2XLX/e) and, although this worked and showed the correct amount of ram, (the original bios doesn't ) the PC was impossibly slow.

have you checked whether your L1/L2 caches are disabled?

Both L1 and L2 are enabled.

Firstly, many thanks for your help. I have tried this bios and it doesn't recognize the drive unless it is set to 32GB.

This bios also seems to slow down the pc somewhat.
