Hi!
For abit's own BIOSes:
http://fae.abit.com.tw/eng/download/bios/lx6.htm

However, I'm assuming that you need large HDD support as you're posting here.
Rainbow has successfully patched the "LY" version of this BIOS (see http://www.wimsbios.net/phpBB2/viewtopi ... t=abit+lx6) and I'm sure he'll be along in a moment to tell you where to find it....
I've patched the Beta "PZ" version if you are interested in testing it.
Tested patched BIOSes. Untested patched BIOSes.

Hoi,

Am I too late or is this thread still active (or reactivated now...). I flashed the BIOS of my LX6 with the BIOS I downloaded from Wim http://wims.rainbow-software.org/) and indeed it seems the board recocgnizes my 60 GB Maxtor hdd.
I try to install win2k but at the first reboot probably the drive geometry changed for some reason and it says that no operating system is installed. Has anyone an idea? Many thx in advance!

Just in case someone arives here with the same problem......

I updated the BIOS with Wim's BIOS. That's fine because at least the Abit LX6 does not hangup itself during boot anymore. However, the geometry of my 60 GB Maxtor is calculated wrong. So, in cmos you must enter user define the drive's parameters. Set the drive to LBA and do not enter (never) the calculate disks entry anymore.......I found the drive's parameters on the Maxtor site.

Model Number Hds Sect Size Speed
6L060J3 16 63 60.0GB 7200RPM
Cylinders=16,383
Furthermore I have set the disk to operate on PIO MODE 4

It runs smoothly win2k now....

Another issue for not booting from cdrom I found in another group:

Anyone with a CDROM problem should check the bios where the hard drives are set (not detected). Set the PCI device to auto and Normal/LBA/Large to auto also. I get a CDROM detected message on my secondary slave CDROM, at bootup, every time now (overclocked or not).

Anyway I am happy with the lx6c_pz.b00 patched BIOS from this site.
The one from abit does not solve the large disk problem.
