I pulled a motherboard with a PII processor out of an old HP Pavilion Desktop to put together my sister's computer. It had a 10 gig hard drive and then she bought a DVD Burner. The DVD-R installed fine but the 10 gig hard drive didn't have enough room to store the DVD files during the copying process. So I bought her an 80 gig Western Digital Hard Drive, but her Bios won't recognize it. I'm pretty sure it needs to be updated, but i have NO IDEA how to do that. I need someone to tell me how to step by step please, I don't even know how to get the files i need to update the Bios, let alone how to update it once i get them. It says:
Award Modular Bios v 4.51PG
ATC-6220 VER: 1.1 04 WB
Award Plug and Play Bios Extension v1.0A
Copywright(C) 1998, Award Software, Inc
and at the bottom it says:
09/23/98-i440Bx-w977tf-ATC-6220C-00
PS: I'm running Windows XP Professional ED with SP1.
Award Bios 4.51PG won't recognize 80 Gig HDD
This might help you with the basics:
