I have TWO Dell Poweredge 840 Server Boxes I inherited from another company. They are basically non functional. The owners want Server 2003 taken off and Win7 put on.

I did not get very far. The CDROM will not recognize ANY BOOTABLE disks. I tried Win7 install discs, XP install discs and Vista install discs. The BIOS shows all drives as UNRECOGNIZED. I can get into BIOS but it wont show any options for identifying the drives.

I am at a small loss on what to do. I am not sure what the problem is. Any advice or questions to help resolve the situation is welcome

Open the case and check for bad capacitors. Sounds like a typical case of them
