I need a Bios patch for a 1997 Bios. Unless I could use the 1998 bios patch.

If I use the 1998 bios patch will it affect my system and make it permanently unbootable?

No.
But every BIOS update is risky.
More than 100,000 BIOS strings in my database just now!

What KURIAKI says is true (any flash can go wrong for any number of reasons), but I have used this particular patched BIOS in my machine, and it works just fine.

Just remember to disable UDMA support in the BIOS (it doesn't work).

What are the risks that i will have to take before i go ahead. I promise that this is the last message for this topic.

Incomplete BIOS ID.
We need the OEM Sign-On too to identify your exact Lucky-Star model.
Can be:
Lucky-Star 6B810ECD (2MB)
Lucky-Star 6B810ECD (4MB)
Lucky-Star 6P2810 (2MB)
Lucky-Star 6P2810 (4MB)

But I think you don't need a BIOS patch:

BIOS OEM string: 6B810ECD(2M)-B2
INT13h Extensions...Present: new-style
=> BIOS already supports HDDs over 32GB!

When i start up my computer, it goes through the normal boot seeing the harddrive, cd-rom drives. But at a certain point, it says "cmos error-load bios defaults" (or something like that). I loaded the bios defaults and the same error comes up every time. What do I do???

CMOS error usually points to an empty backup battery. replace and try again.
