p2l97 problem

I currently have as my secondary computer a system with an asus p2l97 board that runs the i440lx chipset, with an award bios.

also in my posession is a 40gb western digital drive. my computer freezes when trying to detect said drive.

any help? or possibly a patched bios? i checked on the site and the board isnt even listed.

Update to the latest Bios Asus offers. AFAIK this is a Beta-Bios supporting HDD sizes up to 128GB
