Upgraded Fujitsu-Siemens Mobile SCENIC 510 AGP laptop with the latest official bios update.
Still doesn't seem to detect new 40GB drive.

Is there a patch available? I don't know the BIOS ID string.

No, there is no patch for the Fujitsu-Siemens Phoenix BIOS :cry:
I'm a little surprised that a BIOS that late does not work up to 128GB, but that's life, I guess.
This utility from Jan Steunebrink should confirm whether int13h extensions are present:
