Where can I set the memory timings, please? In BIOS?

The board can use both. But, at the moment, only 4x32MB 72-Pin EDO SIMMs installed. Speed of RAM = 60ns. See typ spec from Crucial.com: CT8M32E2M6 EDO • Non-parity • 60ns • 5V • 8Meg x 32 Now, do you think my RAM can take the 83MHz FSB? And how can check this?? Does this board use SIMMS or DIMMS? If...

Thanks for this suggestion. But I tried it first. It works but machine becomes VERY unstable - always crashes, freezes, restarts Windows etc etc etc. I think the CPU is getting too hot and can NOT operate at this MAX speed. So, I wanted lower MHz with higher FSB to achieve a similar performance AFAI...

When drives are Master/Slaved, the controller in the Master is used. Perhaps the older controller did not like the newer drive for some reason. Dear KachiWachi, Perhaps. Although, I do not think you have read all my posts. Basically the problem is. 1)The new HDD did not like the floating middle con...

I hope it resolves itself for you. You say the old BIOS was OK with a smaller drive. Now you have made two changes. A new BIOS, and a larger drive. The new BIOS could have introduced the problem by itself; there may be significant bugs there that the old BIOS did not suffer from. Then even if the B...

Cyrix 6x86MX PR333 CPU on ECS P5ST-A

Dear All, My Cyrix 6x86MX PR333 CPU (83MHz Bus 3.0X) does not work when Bus Clock Setting jumper set to 3 and Bus/Core Multiplier Setting jumper is set to 3. That's, 83MHzx3 = 249MHz(PR333). PC boots boots up first. Then somewhere after the first POST sceen into Windows startup 'registry problem ......

Hi there Jamsah I don't follow your diagnosis of the drive configuration completely but it sounds almost like it could be an IDE config issue, with respect to pri/sec, cs/mast/slave and connector positions on the cables. But as I don't follow you completely it is difficult to tell - if you suspect ...

Hi there Jamsah I am glad you are happy with the update you applied. I think AJZCHIPS is only offering a suggestion on the basis that it may correct some of the issues you are describing. But if you prefer to stick with what you have got I don't think you are offending anyone. The other reason I am...

You might want to try the alternative patch by BP. Dear ajzchips, NO. Everything is working fine apart from those little overzelous error messages and the fact that, sometimes, I have to re-detect HDDs eg slave in 'IDE Autodetection' in CMOS setup. This only happens when new HDD is the master and t...

When having difficulty I connect one drive at a time to the data cable, and make sure it detects correctly by itself. Once I have verified that the system verifies both drives individually I then connect the two drives together and if they do then not detect at all or not as I want them at this tim...

Dear nickS,
thanks for your reply.
I've already done it by backing up the current/old BIOS file and CMOS image.
NickS wrote:Go to www.uniflash.org and download the "executable files" 1.37.
Unzip the uniflash.doc and read it.
Follow the instructions.

Re: am i using the wrong flash program?

Dear acq128, I used the Uniflash flasher utility (Uniflash.exe unzipped from uf137 file) and the AWARD BIOS patched version AWD64 Patch to upgrade my Award Modular 4.51PG. It all worked fine. But my m/b is ECS P5ST-A. i used the AWD, award flasher 8.12 for my BIOS ID: 10/21/1998-i440BX-W977-2A69KTJA...

The 1.3 Bios is listet as upgrade for all revision of the P2-BXAT . Maybe they changed the Bios-ID during 1.10 to 1.20 upgrade - who knows Use Uniflash to update your Bios - make sure you make a backup copy of your old Bios stored on a freshly formated Floppy ! Dear acq128, How can I make a backup ...

It is not detected by BIOS nor IDE Autodetection in CMOS setup.

Thanks

Dear Chemical,

Which flash utility program did you use?
Uniflash (version?) or an Award type (version?)?

Thanks
