edwin,

unistalled Adapter and flashed AHA 2940 UW with BIOS 2.57.2 from HP site and cleared configuration on MB. Unfortunately problem is still there, but on the other hand HD access time is faster now (was set to 40.0 before and after).

Any more ideas?

Thanks,

Klaus

Thanks for looking up the BIOS versions for the board, don't know why I didn't find them when I was lo...

Well, I changed the drives around and installed them on IDE1 and disabled IDE2. Results are identical, the delay is still there. I have been checking the boot logs and there is no indication of any problem but after further investigation it seams that the stall happens before the Video Drivers are l...

So what actually limits the amount of RAM that is usable or recognized? This board has three slots and it will recognize a single 256 MB DIMM in each slot. Don't have any more 256 MB DIMM's laying around in order to test if it would see more. Is the limit set in the firmware? If it is set in the fir...

Limit of 384 MB RAM for Intel WS440BX?

According to Manufacturers Documentation 384 MB is the limit of supported PC100 SDRAM for this board. Can this limit be acceded and the RAM still be recognized and used?

Thanks,

Klaus

I am using SCSI Harddrives and a PCI Adaptec UW SCSI Controller, a DVD Drive on IDE1 and a CD-R Drive on IDE2. Both IDE controllers are set to AUTO. The delay happens after the operating system runs, in the middle of driver activiation. Am I still dealing with BIOS related issues at this point? I wi...

Yes, there is a "Reset Configuration" options. Still does the same thing even after reseting and rebooting.
