Anybody have any ideas? Bought a new Asus MOBO P5P800SE. Tried to boot up my newly built PC. Got these messages after it recognized my NVidia card. ASUS tech says it is bad bios.

Boot Block Compatible Version Ver. 001
Bios Checksum Error

Then it looks for the floppy and then the CD-rom I have tried flashing Bios with MOBO CD which it says then to restart to get computer back but then it just does the same thing.

Asus sends me new BIOS chip which I carefully install. Nothing on screen but the PC powers up and I cannot turn it off from front switch. Replace chip with original same original it sees NVidia card, can't flash BIOS and can turn off machine. Replace again with new chip same result as before.

The chips:

original
Winbond
V39V040FAP
250675101
533GGaa

new
PMCFlash
N16NL
0541
Pm49FL004T-335C

Any ideas? Did the Bios Tech send me the wrong chip? Is it the MOBO?

Thanks for any help,

The Bios runtime is corrupted/damaged somehow. This usually happens with damaged CPU or memory. Try to use only one memory stick or start with a very low FSB and memory clock of 100 MHz.

I have tried one memory stick and no luck? What do you mean when you say:

start with a very low FSB and memory clock of 100 MHz

How would I know if memory or CPU is damaged? I am using (2) Ultra DDR 400MHz 512MB that is supposed to be compatible with this MOBO.
