I've got a pretty heavy problem
When I bootup my computer
All the screen shows is:
"Award Bios Boot block v1.0"
"Bios ROM checksum error"
"Detecting floppy drive a: media"
And an endless
"insert system disk"

I've read all the faq's their are about this problem
I've tried several different bootdisk.
But none will boot, it only reads the floppy drive a short moment
then replies "insert system disk"
I have no idéer about what could be wrong.

Please help me!

Un-overclocking your Celeron could help you with your problem...

Can you slow down the Athlon ?

can't get into the bios setup screen..
i don't believe it uses the old jumper clocking system.. =/
If it uses auto clock as well as auto multiplier, that could be a problem. I do like my Soltek...
What did you do last before the BIOS corruption message came up ? Usually that means either the bus is running too fast and data is getting corrupted, or someone flashed the wrong BIOS, or a virus trashed the BIOS.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem!!
About six months ago my computer suddenly stopped booting complaining about some sort of 'bios checksum error'????
I tried a reset and all worked well again. But then it stopped booting again and again and I decided to flash the bios, no problem, just resetting til it started normally, enter setup, flash utility and that's that: all worked well again. For six months.... and then.... it started all over again and I haven't got a clue why! :?

It boots, says:

award bootblock bios v1.0
bios checksum error
floppy drive detected etc.

resetting doesn't help anymore!
No system disk works, it only wants to boot awdflash.exe but if I copy awdflash and the proper .bin file to a system floppy it boots awdflash and then my monitor turns off or sometimes there are all kinds of coloured blocks on my screen. :?: :?:

Can anyone tell me what is the cause of this problem,

system:

chaintech motherboard 7AIV0
128 MB RAM
Duron 900
Geforce 4 MX
30 G HD
CDROMv 52 speed

No hardware changes lately, no overclocking, nothing changed in setup

I have disconnected one by one every device and tried different RAM modules but nothing works, checksum error is still there.

I hope someone knows what to do next?

Greetz

Try changing the CPU too and then reflashing the BIOS.

Thanx for the reply but changing the CPU is a problem since I have no CPU to change with
Looking around on your forum I discovered some links to pages with other versions of awdflash.exe, I tried v 7.63 and its boots the flash utility without any strange blocks ont he screen!!
But.... now it claims it can't find the 'source file' :?: :?:
I checked for mistyping the .bin but all is correct,
what can be the problem now???

Make sure the read-only file attribute isn't set.

Thanx, but didn't work: "source file not found".
Is it possible that I use the wrong version of awdflash?
When the computer boots is says: award bootblock bios v1.0,
should I try to find v1.0 of awdflash perhaps?

No.
a) Awdflash v1.0 does not exist.
b) Award BootBlock BIOS is always v1.0

Oke, so no awdflash v1.0 or something but about my other question: was the 'no' the answer or do I need a specific version of awdflash?
So far I tried several version of the flash-utilities (7.5 - 7.66) but I have to rename them to awdflash.exe to have the computer to load them and none works.
By the way, I also tried all awdflash.exe programs I could find so far but they didn't work either.
I feel a little stupid by now  What the hell am I doing wrong :?:
