I have a NF7-S V2.
Upon reboot yesterday it stopped at the "bootblock bios" and asked for a floppy with awdflash.
Finally figured out I needed awdflash 7.90 and created boot floppy with Dr.Flash awdflash790 and the bios (nf7d_27.bin).
"Unknown File Type" is the error message I get from that.
Creating an autoexec.bat, trying everything, with "awdflash /f nf7d_27.bin" did'nt help.

So on to the hot-swapping. The only board I have availble for hot-swapping is a MSI Turbo II KT133A board.
Uniflash "works" but the flash fails verification each time.
I do'nt remeber the error from using awdflash /f but it does'nt work.

-edit- In order to use uniflash I have to use the "-force 9d6e" option since the chip is'nt reconized.

What can I do?
Can I save the chip myself?
If not where can I get a quick replacement?

Thanks in advance.

Your chip might be damaged. Tried an electronics shop already?

This is common problem on many newer boards. The board uses some proprietary write protection but someone was stupid enough to not modify the bootblock. So the bootblock does not know how to disable the write protection and awdflash fails. (UniFlash does not support nForce 2 chipsets).

The flash ROM chips are NOT compatible.
