hello! can anyone help me? ...i hav intel d865glc motherboard.....i need to install windows and for that i hav to set my CD ROM as the primary boot device....however...when i open the BIOS mode.... BIOS doesnt show any options..... like for e.g. it says ' 1st boot device= [floppy drive A]' .... if i highlight this option n press enter...it shud show possilbe options...yet it does not show any options .....just a msg 'view only items [ok]' ....same is the case with any other changes i try to make......i hav installed EXPRESS BIOS update from intel site.....it installed and pc restarted....it still didnt fix the problem and BIOS is in the same condition! ....if anyone can tell me how to fix this...i wud be grateful!!

Sounds like the board is not picking up your IDE devices because both are set for master on the same cable perhaps?

that may hav been the case if and if only the problem was with changing my boot devices priority!!! .....however!! as i mentioned.... i cannot make changes in any other BIOS settings as well! .....except for PCI configuration which i dunt think i shud mess with! .....

Sounds like the entire advanced setting stuff is hidden in some way. Is this a retail board or one in a branded machine (IBM/Lenovo)?

well....the board is original...however!! i hav assembled my CPU buying different parts! .....celeron P4 processor 2 GHZ .... intel D865GLC board...kingston ram....previously i had an ASUS mother board but it started malfunctioning so i bought this new one....i hav never messed with the BIOS settings of this board before cuz i didnt feel the need to do so...its still new actually!

You know, I had the same problem...

Like 80% of the options were hidden, until I unplugged the ATX connector and battery and waited a day.

Then the computer would tell me I installed new CPU and give me like a ton of BIOS options back like FSB, boot order, etc etc.

I'm not sure if this sounds stupid but maybe it's worth a shot?
