Pls help me. I am seeking help to you guys with my problem regarding my friend's asus p4s333-vm mobo. I am trying to do a hot flash method since its bios is corrupted. I am using jetway p4mfm as my flash board. Here's my question:
1.) Is it okay to hot flash the bios chip of asus p4s333-vm on jetway p4mfm? If so, this leads to my main query:
As i have observed, I cannot use the uniflash program since I have these foloowing info (pls help me). Upon running uniflash and changing the bios chips, I choose redetect Flash ROM, here's the result:
Flash ROM Chip: UNKNOWN
Organisation: N/A (Is write protect disabled?) - - - This is my first problem
PCI Chipset: VIA Pro Savage P4M266 + WinBond W83697(H)F
Last Write Status: not available
Write Backup BIOS Image to file ---------- (active/enabled)
Flash BIOS image including Bootblock -----(grayed out/disabled)
Flash Backup BIOS image to Flash ROM ---(active/enabled)
Redetect Flash ROM --------------------------(active/enabled)
CMOS Sub Menu ------------------------------(active/enabled)
Advanced Sub Menu --------------------------(grayedout/disabled)
>>By the way, asus p4s333-vm bios chip is SST 39SF020A.
>> Is there any possibility to reset the bootblock by shorting some pins?
>> Pls enlighten me on this.
>>Is it possible that the ASUS Bios chip is bad? Pls do help. Thanks
Bios write protect enabled?
hehe, small world bro...
it appears that the 39SF020A chip is damaged/improperly detected.
try to force flashing with:
A> UNIFLASH -CHIPLIST
copy the 4-character string corresponding to 39SF020A chip...
A> UNIFLASH -FORCE <chipnum>
if the chip is now detected, then go on flashing it.
