I'm wondering if I've killed my motherboard. I've got a PCChips m810lr motherboard with a ami bios but ami's website says it not really an ami. I did the amiboot.rom trick but didn't remove the cmos. I'm gonna try that tonight. Does anyone know if it'll work if it's not really an amibios chip.

The BIOS is indeed AMI. The chip can be manufactured by any other company, except AMI in this case.

To anyone who is truly feeling hopeless after trying everything (even a few things they shouldn't, yes sticking a ami bios chip into a award bios slot on another computer) never underestimate the power of removing the cmos battery and clearing the cmos via jumper.

I just got home and tried that and now everything works like a charm.
