I have a compaq computer with a 40GB ATA 100 disk. I recently upgraded to 200GB disk (I think ATA 133) and everything was fine.

I kept the old disk in storage. yesterday when I tried to use it again after about a month. The bios does not recognize the old disk.

Anybody know why ? Is this a bios issue or is the old disk in trouble.
I have some data in it that I was hoping to retrieve later.

Thanks

Since you didn't upgrade your BIOS,I think that is a hard disk problem...maybe you storaged it at an unsuitable place and damaged or maybe you set the jumpers incorrect...

Did you try the disk in some other PC?
