Here's my situation. I have a Chaintech 7NJL6 AMD nForce 2 mobo that has a dead Award BIOS.
I also have a working P4 mobo w/a VIA chipset and AMI bios.
I have been trying for the past 6 hours or so to hot flash the chaintech bios using the P4 mobo to no avail. Is this even possible?
I don't have a floppy so I am burning CDs that boot to DOS and then I run the Award flasher. I tried using award flasher 8.94 first.
I used /qi /py /sn first only and it told me I should try putting in nvmac:xxx/wb
So next I tried /py /sn /cp /qi /e /nvmac:002332c416ad/wb
And it gave me the same message about it not being an nForce board.
Next I tried uniflash and it kept giving me runtime error 200.
Is there any way I can hotflash? And if my board will not post is it not possible to flash with bootblock?
Hot flash using different model mobo
With Uniflash, you need to chiplist and use the -FORCE XXXX switch. Uniflash will put something on the chip for you if it is supported. But still this may not work if the chips are formatted or sectored differently.
I just had a similar problem.
Thanks,
Miki.
