Greetings,

I have a problem not caused by a flash attempt or anything, it just happened as I was about to reinstall the OS. (W98).

I get NO video, and NO beeps.

I placed a POST Card and recieved the following BIOS Error:

C1 Initialize Post Error Manager (PEM)

What has happened, and how do I recover from this? I am way perplexed, but not a total idiot, so any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanx.

Do you at least have floppy access?

ajzchips,

No I do not. There is nothing at all showing up. I have considered buying a pre-burned BIOS from somewhere if I need to. Any ideas?

Unless your BIOS chip is soldered to the mobo, you can try the hotswap/hotflash technique on any other board.

Excuse me for being so green here on this, but, I was under the imression that motherboard manufacturers change the BIOS to suit thier particular motherboard and integrations. If I performed such a technique, would I not need to use the same type of MoBo? Would this possibly endanger the other MoBo if I performed this technique wrong?

Same risk with the same, similar or even totally different mobo.

Perhaps a replacement from a supplier, if I make sure they get all of numbers, would be a safer route...? I googled up a few of them, can get one for around $25.00.
