Hi all,

I'm trying to install a 120 GB disk in an Acer Travelmate 630. The old drive was a 30 GB disk.

The disk is recognized in the bios with the correct name and LBA number but i always get an error 0200 failure fixed disk before the boot sequence is started.

The disk works fine in another laptop so there's nothing wrong there.

I have updated the bios to the latest version available on the Acer site
PhoenixBIOS v4R6.1 R01-C0P which dates from end 2004 but it still wouldn't let me boot from the drive.

I can start installing XP from the cd, it formats the drive and copies the files to it but when it restarts to begin installation from the drive it won't work.

I already tried making a partition of 30 GB and installing there but the problem remains.

Any thoughts?

Kind regards
edwin
