Hi, My friend has a acer 4404. He accidently updated wrong bios. He sent off to acer and they said they wanted silly money for repair so he had it back and asked for my help. I was not aware of the Fn + Esc Method with external floppy until reading this forum and continued to desolder bios chip.

Successfully doing so I downloaded the Bios file from acer in WPH format.

I programmed this file with willem and put back in Acer.

Now all that happens is orange charge light comes on even without battery.

Firstly was I right to flash wph file to bios chip as I thought it had to be a 512k bin or rom? The Wph file was 514k i think.

Or considering the screws on motherboard were worn, have sneaky acer engineers swaped the motherboard before return?

Any help would be great, Thanks

Propably soldering the chip back may not be 100% success. Look for solder bridges or loose pins.
