Hello, i have an packard bell M5250 with bios from Insyde.
I bought the laptop in 2004.
It doesn't support booting up from an usb. Is there a way to add usb-booting?

I wanna be able to start linux (ubuntu 9.04) from an usb.

Hope to hear!

thnx in advanced.

Hello people!

Same question here.
My laptop is compaq presario 3015us.
Bios is Insyde version F.37 .
Last bios update is sp24481.exe (google it)
I wonder if there is the possibility to unlock an option that allows me to boot from usb.

Thank you

I have checked and both of you are out of luck, not even seeing a commercial upgrade for these dinosaurs that might enable USB booting. There may be an alternative though:

Let me know if this works for you.

Nope, I gave you the link to some sort of bootloader that might work.
