Check this one out and please post what you found your Advent laptop to be.

The official support site for Advent is here:

As you can see that will cost money.

Thanks edwin for yout reply :D

I checked out the links that you posted. My laptop could either be one of 3 models

Advent 7032 === Mitac 8060, HiGrade 8060, Gericom Hollywood P4

So i am more confused than ever now :?: I called the "Tech Guys" and they said they dont have my laptop under anyother model so they were unsure on how to advise me.

I think i will give up and keep the Bios i have now. You know what they say "better the devil you know" lol lol

Thanks again for your help edwin :D

For MUCH OLDER Advent Laptops/Notebooks a company named as Gericom manufactured the notebooks (also known as Gericon in Germany it seems) and also sold under the name's of 'Mecer', 'Acer' and 'Uniwill', among others. These have model numbers similar to N340S8 etc.

Tracking drivers for these is pretty hard, but these guys seem to still have them on an old section of their site:

http://www.mecer.co.za/drivers/oldftp/Mecer_Notebooks/
and by product name (which wasn't used by Advent)
http://www.acomp.hu/pub/gericom/Notebook/
also from the actual source (Gericom) but by product name again
http://download.gericom.com/NOTEBOOK/
You have one of those Gericom laptops. Gericom was/is a large OEM/ODM that itself has bought some laptops at MiTac later on so that actually makes sense.

(MiTac also delivered to Compaq at one point, unsure if they still do).

Thank you again edwin :D

It worked like a treat. There was a moment after the flash that i thought something went wrong. Windows booted to the desktop then hanged for a few seconds then rebooted again. But after the second reboot everthing is running great :D Thanks again for all your help.

It may have detected new hardware/functionality in the new bios version and installed drivers/support for it, then rebooted. If not sure, check the event logs for that moment and see if it did that or downright crashed...

Just before it rebooted i had a black box apear for a few seconds saying something about no sis or sid controllers? I have no idea what that is lol lol.

Well since i have been running that new bios my laptop does not seem to heat up so much. I am not sure if its me knowing there is something new or it is really running cooler
