Would be interesting to find out if 600E really has AGP. I have been in the understanding for several years that 600E is based on PCI and I have not found out any AGP buses yet from the mainboard, but I could be wrong...

I'm trying to track down a 600E system restore disk right now so that I can install the factory windows image that the computer came with. Everything that I have read says that in factory form and condition windows 98 on the 600E will do direct3d and AGP 1x.

I find it confusing that there is a PCIset chipset on the mainboard and a AGPset chipset on the MMC-2 module and every chipset identification utility that is available says that the computer is using a 440BX AGPset.

Recently someone else working on this problem at forum.thinkpads.com reported that when windows 98 (retail verion/non-IBM) was installed direct3d under directx 6.1a is enabled. So that is exciting and it confirms my idea about the directx 6 software rasterizer. Now we just have to find out what is the latest version that still allows d3d and find out if the NM2200 is a PCI or AGP version.

sandra reports agp bus ver 1,*72 mghz agp clock from 108 fsb bus.
max*supported 2x ,sideband supported=yes
sideband enabled = no.
fast writes enabled= no.
direct x 8.1 w xp pro.
ironically a hp 4150 non b with identical chipsets and similar speed cpu
shows exactly the same and both are virtually identical in 2d and 3d bench tests too, looks like the need for decent win 2k drivers to run xp as supposed to,i'm running all the notebooks in xp because i found out the battery lasts way way longer+the fact xp power managment with thinkpad config tools allow the battery to fully drain instead of winme which suspends the pc if battery gets to 0% (despite the fact i can use the same assumed discharged battery in xp around 1-1.5hrs more .
chances are when the ibm engineers constructed the tp 600 batterys firmware ,they indeed designed the firmware to tell win 9x that its time to replace the battery sooner than later, truth is win xp tells the battery to shut the f"" up and keep on working regardless what the charge state assumes(by coincidence ibm never released a battery recalibration tool for the tp 600 batts)myth exposed, now we need proper agp function, look forward to findings.

Iv got a tp 770z and its fairly similar to the 600e, powerstrip tells me that agp 1x is enabled (2x is supported by the Gpu but not the motherboard) also it says that sba is enabled. When trailing through the intel drivers to find the fastest possible for the bx chipset i found this:
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts ... bmit=Go%21
That should get the AGP working, at least for the chipset
