Hey everyone,

I upgraded (sic) my bios to 1.30 and my fan got super quiet. So quiet in fact that it was pretty useless at keeping the computer cool. I've downgraded back to 1.24, but that didn't help the fan much. I'd like to get back to 1.03 but i can't find the bios file anywhere. Wim wrote back and sadly doesn't have a copy of this bios, but suggested I try reaching out to the community.

So, anyone out there with an early bios? Apparently anything before 1.12 lets the fan run at full jet turbo, which would be a good thing for me.

Thanks!

SOLVED WITHOUT NEED FOR THE BIOS MOD !

For all users who own Acer Aspire 5745G with latest BIOS (1.19), i will explain how to manually control a cpu fan and how to lower a CPU and overall temp's. :-)

1. Download RW EVERYTHING 1.5.2 (i am using a zip version).(http://rweverything.myweb.hinet.net/download.html)

2. Unrar RW EVERYTHING. Open a folder and start RW.exe.

3. Click on the EC icon and EC window will be shown .

4. Change value of 50x05 to 91 and value of 50x0E to 13
(see on the pic !!!)

Wait a short time, listen to louder noise from cpu fan and look at the cpu temp monitor. :-) :-) :-)

5. Close RW windows.

Enjoy.
Now the question is if your bios has the same structure and the same location for the fan speed values. But it seems you can influence it from within windows...
