None of the CPUs you mentions are supported for this hardware. No bios update is going to change that, you simply cannot fit them because of physical regulator limits. If you try to run those the laptop may go up in smoke.

the SL7DT runs at a much slower rate because the bios is only guessing at what it is running. Now just apart from the hardware problem, Toshiba is using some sort of highly customized bios that is close to unpatchable. If it were possible that easy you would have seen patched bioses already right?

better off running the northwood cpu ,even the celeron northwood with 256l2 cache outperforms the crappy power hungry overheating 1mb prescotts mghz for mgz because of the significantly straighter +more efficient l2 quad pumping pipeline arrangment, and obvious 95% native programs that respond better to the more dedicated real time on demand cpu,one can get a 400fsb 2.4ghz celeron remove the pin to default to 533fsb @3.2ghz,as i done with my desktop, only a question if a notebook could provide required voltage to push the cpu to them speeds
it works @1.5 v on desktops anyway.
if your bios is speedstep capable the 512 l2 northwoods are the way go.
with 400,533+800 fsb variants, cheap, easily modded, run cooler ,last longer + perform better despite less cache.
