I used UniFlash to back-up my BIOS of my Refurbished eSlate 450k.
This seemed to work fine. I then tried to clear (I think) Advanced CMOS Settings. The laptop instantly turned off and when I turn it back on it beeps 8 times. There is a single beep followed by two sets of two beeps and finally one set of three beeps.
I tried taking out the CMOS battery, but the laptop still will not boot up.
I don't think my laptop/BIOS has a boot-block, because nothing happens after the 8 beeps, there is no floppy access(at least I don't think so).
Is my next step to order a new PLCC chip already flashed?
Given a known good BIOS Image, are there any special issues programming a PhoenixNoteBios PLCC? Or is it just a matter of having the image and the programming hardware? I am wondering(hoping) one of the three BIOS services listed can (easily) find a compatible PLCC and flash it given the Image file.
Thanks...
