did you check the PCWizard results with CPU-Z (http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php)?

on the PCWizard screenshot it says: CPU activity : 8%
the cpu is clocking down because there's nothing to crunch. you can get:

CPUBurn
http://pages.sbcglobal.net/redelm/

CPU Burn-In
http://users.bigpond.net.au/cpuburn/

to produce some load and run the programs again. i bet the values then read 2GHz :)

Were you running on batteries or on AC power when you took those readings?

AC power doesn't always mean that CPU frequency modulation is switched off. go get one of the applications, run them and let one of your tools test the cpu speed again.

True enough.

On the other hand, many people aren't aware that their laptop will run differently when it is powered by a different source (and on their Power Options Control Panel settings naturally  ).

Thanks.
