Internal memory has screwed on my oldskool toshiba satellite 4100xcdt.
I'm thinking of getting module for expansion slot but does anyone know how I can disable internal memory?
I read on hear about cutting the chips out with a sharp knife, is this a joke or would it really work?! Thanks guys.

Unless the bios has an option to disable the onboard memory (IBM/Lenovo have this) that would be the way to go, yes. Just be very careful, practice on a different known broken board with similar chips (shape/size) to find out how much force to use and what knife works best. In any case, work slowly, gently increase the pressure until you cut through the solder, it is soft metal, think of it like very tough chewing gum to understand how to work.
