Please could someone shed some light on what this could be?

I have recently replaced my hard drive on my HP NC6230 with my old one disfunctional. When I try to install windows on the new hard drive using DC power, the laptop would shut off in the Windows Setup Screen screen.

The laptop will only accept the AC power adapter for charging DC power and will not run on AC power. Whenever i run on AC power, the laptop will boot and shut off after the fan is running (5s). I've tried to get into the bios, but i can only access it for no more than 3s under DC power.

I've been searching for weeks and hopefully someone can offer some feedback.

Thanks in Advance

DD

Sounds like the AC charger and/or the battery need replacing.
