Download the dell folder to see documentation on a local hard drive. It
will not work from this link

First, the LCD screen was not working. I wanted to fix that first, so I
asked my friend to help me fix it. He took it apart and
put it back together again. Now, it does not power up. Did he forget
to do something?

I have the 300 version. The CPiA's have a problem that the CPU card is easily detachable. It may have been accidentally released.

My friend and I took your advice and took the laptop apart again.
We double checked the CPU and didn't power up the first time. Then,
we decided to give up and put it back together again. One more power
up and it is a miracle! It works now!

The next possible repairs we need is to replace the power supply
adaptor, the LCD inverter, and maybe the hard drive. I will see if
I can get the bios information posted on the board. I wanted to know
the maximum hard drive upgrade I can get.

After waiting and searching for adaptors and inverters, I have found a seller on ebay that sells thE parts I need to get this laptop working. People have said to junk this machine, but it still has it's advantages. I will keep people posted on the status of this machine.

If the LCD inverter is bad, it can be often repaired. I had burnt transistor on the inverter in my DTK FortisPro TOP-5A. I've bought a cheap inverter for CCFL lamps (used e.g. for case modding) and used transistors from it to replace both transistors in the notebook inverter (only one was burnt but they both should be of the same type). There was also a blown fuse on the inverter board but that's easy to fix.
