Hi! Great forum. I've been looking for a place like this.

Need some help. I was recently given an Nec Versa 6230 laptop (233Mhz, 128 MB ram, floppy, no CDROM). When powered up, the cpu fan spins, but it doesn't do anything else. It will not post!
It's driving me crazy!Any help would be appreciated!

My apologies if this is the wrong forum!

You may need to dismantle it and check everything is in place.

I've seen similar symptoms three or for times with different makes, where a module or connector has come adrift.

In one case the whole CPU carrier board had dropped out, in another the display interface board was half out of it's connector.

In some models, everything is screwed or clipped solidly in place, but others seem to rely on PCB connectors as physical attachment and it does not take all that much impact or vibration to loosen bits.
