hi all i need help i bought a laptop from a friend its a IBM Thinkpad 560
i get a error when booting it up ERROR:08611 and then i run test i get 3 errors on system board DEV 086
ERR 22
FRU 0010
if someone can plz help me it would be great

you got a trackpoint pointing device issue.make sure the trackpoint is connected ,if still no go replace the trackpoint/keyboard device
you may possibly install an external mouse and disable the error via hex edit table ,read tp600 e post page 43,44 to see how its done .

thanks it did the job but now my problem is my mouse that i plug into it wont work and thing is it doesnt have a floppy disc on it

laptop doesnt have a usb or and mind of cdrom or floppy in it its an older one

Is the mouse good? The trackpoint disable should not affect mouse port...

i dont know how to turn off trackpoint

Maybe go into Windows Safe Mode and remove all occurrences of mouse devices from device manager. Then reboot and see if the mouse re-detects and operates correctly.

Are you sure the mouse is fine?

And you haven't by any chance plugged the mouse into a keyboard port (if present)?

If all the above fails go into the laptop BIOS, reload best defaults and then check that the mouse port is enabled, then exit and save and reboot.

Keep in mind that if the trackball device is enabled in the BIOS it could possibly be over-riding the mouse port, so if all the above fails consider disabling this temporarily to see if the mouse operates through the mouse port.
