Ok,

I really don't know much about anything let alone this, but I learn. I just cleared my machine and reloaded ME from scratch. Everything is fine, except that my notebook doesn't show any battery at all?
If I recall I did have a similar problem before with 2000 on a desktop and bios update fixed that.

So, does anyone think that would solve this?

How DO you get a bios update anyway? I had a boyfriend that fixed the 2000 machine but I'd rather not have to run to someone else to fix everything in my life!

Where do you expect the battery to show? In the system tray?

It doesn't show in the system tray, the power options or the device manager.

Sounds as though it could be an APM/ACPI problem and if the BIOS is old it may not support one or the other properly. How old is the BIOS?
[edit]
From the documentation on the Toshiba website it looks as though it should....
